Health Content Works

Effective date: October 26, 2026

Last updated: October 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how David Lee Carpenter, Jr., doing business as Health Content Works ("Health Content Works," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit HealthContentWorks.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.

1. Who we are

Health Content Works is an educational consumer health publication. The Site is operated by David Lee Carpenter, Jr., doing business as Health Content Works, at 6720 N Hualapai Way, Ste 145, PMB #343, Las Vegas, NV 89149. You can reach us at contact@healthcontentworks.com.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Comments. If you leave a comment on an article, we collect the name, email address, and (optionally) website you enter, the content of your comment, and technical details such as your IP address and browser user-agent string, which help with spam detection. Your email address is not published. The Site displays Gravatar avatars with comments, so a string created from your email address (a "hash") may be sent to the Gravatar service, operated by Automattic Inc., to check whether you have an avatar. Gravatar's privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/.
  • Email. If you email us (for example, at contact@healthcontentworks.com), we receive your email address, name, and anything you choose to include in your message.

We do not currently offer user accounts, a newsletter sign-up, online purchases, or a contact form on the Site.

Information collected automatically

  • Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics collects information such as pages viewed, time on page, referring website, approximate location (derived from IP address), device and browser type, and similar usage data. It uses cookies and similar technologies to do this. See Section 3.
  • Server logs. Like most websites, our web server and hosting provider automatically record basic technical information, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the date and time of the request, for security and operations.
  • Comment cookies. If you leave a comment and check the box to save your details, WordPress stores cookies on your browser containing your name, email, and website so you don't have to re-enter them. These cookies last for about one year.

Health information

Health Content Works is an educational publication, not a medical practice. We do not provide medical care, and we do not ask you to submit personal health information through the Site. We are not a "covered entity" under HIPAA, and the Site is not designed to collect protected health information. Please do not include personal medical details in comments or emails. Comments are public. If you choose to share health information anyway, you do so voluntarily, and we may remove it from public view.

3. Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. The Site uses:

Cookie / technology Provider Purpose Typical duration
_ga, _ga_<ID> Google Analytics 4 Distinguish visitors and sessions, measure Site usage Up to 2 years
comment_author_*, comment_author_email_*, comment_author_url_* WordPress (this Site) Remember your comment details, only if you opt in About 1 year

Affiliate tracking cookies Amazon (Amazon Associates) and other merchants or affiliate networks (see Section 4) Credit us for purchases made after clicking an affiliate link Set by the merchant; usually 24 hours to 30+ days

Your choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). For more about how Google uses data, see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

We do not currently use advertising networks, social media pixels (such as the Meta Pixel), or session-recording tools.

4. Affiliate links and disclosure

Some articles and resource pages may contain affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not determine our health conclusions. See our Affiliate Disclosure (https://healthcontentworks.com/affiliate-disclosure/) for more detail.

How affiliate tracking works. When you click an affiliate link, the merchant or network may place cookies or use similar technologies on your device. They may also collect information about your click and any purchase so the referral can be credited to us. That information is collected by the merchant or network, and their privacy policies govern how they use it. We generally receive only aggregated reports (for example, the number of clicks and the items purchased). We do not receive your name, payment details, or shipping address.

Amazon Associates. Health Content Works is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. When you click an Amazon link on the Site, Amazon may set cookies or use similar technologies to credit the referral. Amazon’s collection and use of that information is governed by the Amazon.com Privacy Notice.

5. How we use information

We use information to:

  • operate, maintain, and secure the Site;
  • understand how readers use the Site, so we can improve our content;
  • display and moderate comments, and detect spam and abuse;
  • respond to your emails, corrections, and inquiries;
  • track affiliate referrals and earnings, in aggregate;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

6. How we share information

We share information only as described below:

  • Service providers that help us run the Site, including our web host (GoDaddy), Google (analytics), Automattic (Gravatar avatars for comments), our email provider (Microsoft 365, provided through GoDaddy), and any security services our web host provides.
  • Website administration and AI integration. We use WPVibe, operated by SeedProd, LLC, to connect our WordPress site with authorized AI assistants (currently OpenAI's ChatGPT) for website administration, publishing, and media management. When we request an operation, WPVibe processes the site content, settings, and other data needed for it and returns the results to the connected AI service. Depending on the request and permissions, this may include personal information stored in WordPress, such as comments or user information. WPVibe stores connection information, encrypted application credentials, and operational logs. WPVibe states that it does not sell personal information or use WordPress content to train WPVibe-owned AI models. WPVibe's privacy policy (https://wpvibe.ai/privacy/) applies to its processing, and the connected AI provider's own privacy policy applies to information that provider receives.
  • Affiliate partners and merchants, including Amazon through the Amazon Associates Program, through the cookies and click data described in Section 4.
  • The public. Comments you post are publicly visible, along with the name and website you provide.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information when we believe it is required by law, or needed to protect our rights, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers. If the Site is sold or transferred, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

"Sharing" under California law. Google Analytics and affiliate tracking cookies may count as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or as a "sale," under some state privacy laws. See Section 8 for your opt-out rights.

7. Data retention

  • Comments: kept until you ask us to remove them, or until we delete them.
  • Emails: our policy is to keep ordinary reader correspondence for up to 3 years after our last correspondence with you, and then delete it. Deletion is handled manually, not automatically.
  • Google Analytics data: our Google Analytics settings retain event-level data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months, and the user-level period resets when a visitor returns to the Site. These settings apply to detailed, user-level analysis in Google Analytics. Standard aggregated reports, such as total page views, are not affected by these settings and may be kept longer.
  • Server logs: kept according to our hosting provider's standard practices.

8. Your privacy rights

  • Delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions;

  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, including through cookies used for analytics or affiliate tracking. You can do this by blocking or deleting cookies or by using the Google Analytics opt-out;
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information through the Site;
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Residents of other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws (for example, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, and Oregon) may have similar rights, and may make requests the same way.
